Get Your Passports & Register Live Starting June 25 (Giveaway)
With just one week left before Shelter Point Distillery kicks off the Comox Valley 30-Day Local Food Challenge, it’s time to pick up your passport, get it registered and get ready for a fantastic month of foodie fun. The Food Challenge passport is your ticket to to Food Challenge events throughout July as well as the more than $3,500 in prizes we have up for grabs this year.
You can pick up your passport at the Comox Valley Farmers Market any Saturday or Wednesday beginning this Saturday (June 25) through July 9. Just come down, grab a free passport and get it registered by us right there (registration validates it).
We’re excited to get folks out to the Farmer’s Market this year as it’s the first season out at the new Comox Bay Farm location, the spot for the future permanent farmer’s market. So, come out on Wednesdays to see what a great destination the permanent market will be. Saturdays are still at the Exhibition Grounds.
If it’s tough to make it out to the market, you can always pick up your passport at any of the following locations starting Monday, June 27:
- Comox Valley Visitor’s Information Centre
- Beyond The Kitchen Door in downtown Courtenay
- Otter’s Kitchen Cove in downtown Comox
- Seeds Natural Food Market in downtown Cumberland
Are you coming in from out of town? Pick up a passport at one of the locations above or a Food Traveler version of the passport at participating hotels including The Westerly, Old House Village Hotel and Spa or the Holiday Inn Express.
Then, just go to the registration page HERE and get yourself signed up at your convenience.
Part of the fun is getting more and more people involved in all of the great events we have this year.
Now that we’ve got the details on how to get started out there, let’s do something fun. Leave a note here about what parts of the Food Challenge you are excited about this year and “like” our Facebook fan page and you’ll be entered into a draw for a $60 gift certificate from Tita’s Mexican Food in downtown Courtenay. Local ethnic food at its finest! When we reach 425 fans on Facebook, we’ll draw. So, share all the details with your friends.
Happy eating!

I am so very excited about Tsolum Farm’s Open House on July 26th … I may have to take the day off work! What a lineup – Peggy Carswell doing a demo on worm tea compost, Carol McIntyre helping us get our winter gardens ready, AND Amy!! I’ve had the privilege of meeting Amy, who is so knowledeable and such a gentle soul.

I am really excited to learn more about the wonderful local farmers, food, and people so that I can continue to enjoy the treasures of Comox Valley after the events are over. I am looking forward to the Barista Championship and Latte Art Competition on the 13th (who doesn’t love a great coffee!? and who doesn’t love Royston Roasters and Wandering Moose!?) The Silliest Sandwich Making Competition sounds like a lot of fun and I hope my grandchildren will be here by then to participate. Should be a fantastic month.
